Forum: GratefulDead Subject: how to did Ron Tutt join JGB

hey guys been awhile since I've had a question here that I can find no answer to so maybe you dudes and dudetts know. The early form of the JGB line up was w/John Kahn on bass and a friend of Jerry's from Marin, then Nickey Hopkins on piano and playing w/ the Stones might seem strange but he did live in S.F. and played credited and non credited on bunches of albums including Volunteers and now we come to Ron Tutt.Formally known as Elvis's drummer. How did this connection happen and was it Jerry just changing up things by changing line-ups just about every other time I've seen them.I was fortunate to see this band I think it was at Winterland but not all that sure. What Iam sure of was seeing the Jeff Beck Band at the Fillmore East w/ Nickey on keys and Rod Stewart as lead vocal and Beck was Les Paul guitar guy at that time.
